Smoke detection can offer an early fire warning if used correctly. If smoke detectors are installed at a great height, thermal stratification may block the smoke from reaching the sensor. This scenario can result in a failure to danger. Heat detectors are a reliable, cost effective fire detection solution, however in a large space, their response time will be slow and often too late. 

Optical flame detectors provide a fast response to flaming fires, offer wide active coverage over a large area and certain units also have CCTV functionality.
